The Compass program is implementing a new data deadline structure beginning on October 1st, 2020.
For the last 3 years we have operated with a single, final deadline and asked all participants to have their claims data submitted, errors corrected and data "finalized" prior to that date.
Beginning with the Q3 2020 data collection period, there will be 3 posted deadlines for Compass participants.
1. Data Submission Deadline
This is the target date for members to have all of their claims loaded into the Star platform for the specific quarter being collected.
2. Data Corrections Deadline
This is the target date for members to have all of their errors corrected on claims in the Star platform for the specific quarter being collected
3. Data FINAL APPROVAL Deadline
Each member must approve their data in the Star platform for each associated facility account by this deadline.
The data approval step is now mandatory for the Compass program and no data will be sent to THCIC/System 13 until the Data Approver for each facility account has completed this step.
Part of the approval process should include a preliminary step to review and audit the data in the Star platform for completeness and accuracy. Many tools and reports will be available within the platform to assist users with verifying all claims have been submitted and processed through the Star platform and all fatal errors have been corrected.
The THA Compass program will continue to operate with a target fatal error rate of 3% or below for each facility account. Please note: THCIC expects a 0% error rate in their system (System 13) so all fatal errors will need to be corrected eventually. Because of this we encourage all members to get to 0% fatal errors in the Star platform.
The FINAL APPROVAL deadline will fall on the same date each quarter as the final deadline we have been using for the Compass program over the past 3 years - 10 days before the published THCIC deadline for initial submissions. So while there are new target deadlines implemented to encourage the flow of submissions and corrections to happen earlier in the collection period - we are not taking away any of the overall time members have to finalize the submission process.
This small buffer between the THA deadline and THCIC deadline is to allow for our vendor to send the large volume of data that flows through the program to System 13 efficiently. On average over 3 million claims flow through the Compass program each quarter.
